Daruma Doll is also known as the make-a-wish doll. You put one eye on your wish. When your wish comes true, you put the other eye. Some of the people bring Daruma Doll offer to the temple.
About 300 years ago, there is a small temple with Kannon statue that was made by priest Gyoki. Around late 17th century, there was a large flooding of Usui river. After the flooding, people found a great black tree. One day, one of the old man had a dream of priest Daruma, they carved priest Daruma from that black tree.
In 1697, the feudal lord of Maebashi, Sakai Tadataka, invited priest Tenshu and established the temple for the protector of their castle.
