Machiya House (まちや館) is the visitor's center and free resting place of Gojo Shinmachi Town. This house was used to be Tsuji House. This house was constructed in the late Edo period. It was used to be the house of the rice merchant. The structure of the house is the same as the typical house in Edo period. Today, fully restored and open for the visitor's center. They sale the local craftworks and serve tea here.

Open: 10:00 to 17:00 (Apr. to Oct.), Nov. to Mar.(10:00 to 16:00)

Machiya House
Matchiya kan is one of the traditional houses located in Gojo, Nara Prefecture. It was constructed at the end of Edo period (late 19th century). It was used to be Tsuji's house who was the rich merchant. In this building, you can see the store area, living space, guest rooms, and the room for the employees. At the backyard place, there are 2nd houses and storage. Also, there is a garden in front. The kitchen displays the old cooking systems and dishes at that time. The living room displays many treasures of this house.

The guest room is open for a free resting place. They serve tea and coffee. You can also buy the local craft works.
