Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine

Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine (冨士御室浅間神社) is the oldest Sengen shrine located in Yamanashi Pref. It was established in 699 by Fujiwara no Yoshitada. It was used to be located at 2nd station of Mt. Fuji. Later people built a new shrine at this place. The shrine located at 2nd station is also removed here.

Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine

Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine, enshrined by the shore of Lake Kawaguchi, has 1300 years of history. It is the oldest shrine in Mt. Fuji area. It was Fujiwara Yoshitada who dedicated the shrine, originally built on the 2nd station of Mt. Fuji in 699. Later, as musubi no kami, it was worshiped and courteously protected by the clans of Takeda, Oyamada, Tokugawa. In the spacious grounds, the main sanctuary is placed facing its backside toward Mt. Fuji, and the satomiya sanctuary was built facing its backside toward Lake Kawaguchi. The main sanctuary was originally enshrined on the 2nd station of Mt. Fuji, but for its eternal preservation, it was removed to the current location in 1974.
