Tsurugaya Hachiman Shrine

Tsurugaya Hachiman Shrine (鶴谷八幡宮) is located in Tateyama, Chiba Prefecture. It enshrines Hachiman who is the top of Genji clan, the all Samurai family of Genji. It has a history of over 1,000 years old. The main hall was constructed in 1721. It has a great carving ceiling arts.

Tsurugaya Hachiman Shrine
Enshrines: Hachiman, the Emperor Onin, Emperor Chuai and Empress Jinko.

Tsurugaya Hachiman Shrine has established around Heian Period about 1,000 years ago. During Kamakura period, the first Samurai Shogun, Minamoto no Yoritomo respected Hachiman and all the other feudal lords also built Hachiman shrines all over Japan.

Satomi clan that was the lord of this land also highly respected this shrine and donated many things.
