Enryakuji Temple Yokawa

Enryakuji Temple Yokawa(延暦寺 横川) is located 4km north from the center of Enryakuji. It was established by priest Ennin. Priest Ennin is one of the most important Buddhist priests in the history of Japan. He was the 3rd head priest of Enryakuji Temple. Chudo has the Sei Kannon Bosatu scrip made by Priest Ennin.

Enryakuji Temple Yokawa
Hieizan Enryakuji Temple is one of two tops Buddhism temple located in Shiga Pref. It was established in 788 by Priest Saicho. The entire mountain that is 848m tall is a part of the Enryakuji. Enryakuji is designated as the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Saicho travel to China to study Tendai Buddhism in 804 A.C.E. Many famous Buddhist Priests were trained at Enryakuji here. This temple was the first official Buddhism school established next to Koyasam.

Shikiko-Do Temple
The temple for the great master "Ganzan Daishi Ryogen (912 to 985 ACE)." It is also known as the temple of tour seasons because in 967 it is where Priest Ryogen was ordered to provide the emperor Murakami with seasonal lectures on the sutra.

The painting enshrined in the main temple is a portrait of priest Ryogen.

It is deeply believed that anyone can be relieved of serious illness by prayer at this temple.

Since the third day of each month is a holy day to commemorate the death of priest Ryogen. many Buddhist followers come to the temple to worship him.

Eshinin Temple
This temple was built by "Fujiwara Kaneie" for priest Jie. His disciple "Eshin Souzu Genshin" used it place to engage in Buddhist exercises and to devote himself to many of the famous writings and works of art that he produced there such as the "O joyoshu" the Nijuugo Zanmaishiki the Rokudo jukkai no zu and the Mida Raigo no zu he founded Jodo-Kyo (pure land teaching) with his works in the end of 10th century.

Nyoho-to Tower
This tower enshrines "Lotus Sutas" that Jikaku Daishi Ennin transcribed the sutras have been preserved as prayers. Today many Buddhist followers copy the sutras and place them in the tower for eternity.
