Fukiage Jigokudani (吹上地獄谷) is a valley with many Onsen springs located in Onikobe Onsen Miyagi Prefecture. Jigokudani literary means a hell valley. The site of this valley looks like Japanese hell because of those Onsen spring. It has great hiking course on this valley.

There is parking.
Don’t Touch spring water and rocks around or look into a hole. They are extremely hot.

Access
0. at Kogota Station.
1. use JR Rikuu Line to Naruko Onsen (1hr. 18min.)
2. use Bus to Kanketsusen mae (26 min.).
3. walk north (20 min.)

It has great view with green leaves or Koyo.
Legend said: about 1200 years ago, Takamaru fought against the invader from Yamato. However, Takamaru was defeated and executed later. His head flied over and arrived at this place. After that, this place started being called “Onikobe, the head of Ogre”

Watch out the Onsen springs. Sometimes, they splash very high. Whatever happens, it will be all your own responsibility.
