Basho Memorial Museum (芭蕉記念館) is the famous Haiku Master Matsuo Basho located in Koto, Tokyo Metro. Matsuo Basho lived 1680 to 1694 in this area. At this museum, there are many Basho related items in this museum and some of them are original Basho's item.

There are no parking.
There is a restroom.
Admission: 200 yen for adults, 50 yen for kids.
There is a group discount.
Time: 9:30 to 17:00 (last entry 16:30)

Access
0. at Akihabara Station.
1. walk to Iwamotocho Station.
2. use Toei Shinjuku Line to Morisita Station.
3. walk west.

Basho Memorial Museum
Matsuo Basho (松尾芭蕉) is the most famous Haiku, Japanese style poem, master during early Edo period. He traveled all Japan, found beautiful sceneries and wrote poems on those spots. His famous travel is called "Okuno Hosomichi, Narrow road to interior (this also means Oshu Region)."

Matsuo Basho moved from Nihonbashi to Fukagawa. He lived here from 1680 to 1694 until he died. He made many journeys including Okuno Hosomichi. In 1917, after the huge typhoon, people found the Basho's Frog here.

There are many Basho related items including his real poem book wrote in 1680.

It displays some of Basho related items. The items will change seasonable.
