Detailed Travel Guide

Houtouro
This building constructed in the early Meiji period represents Chaya-Machi in Obama Nishigumi town. It used to be one of the biggest luxury Japanese restaurants in Sanchoumachi from Meiji Period to the beginning of Showa Period. Inside the building are attractive designs down to detail such as small windows on the wall, wing walls made bamboos, transom windows, etc. whose architectural style is a little different from the one found in the residences in the merchant town along Tango-kaido Road.
