Kokin Denju no Sato

Travel Information

Kokin Denju no Sato (古今伝授の里) is a field museum and Wakashu Museum located Gujo, Gifu prefecture. There are several museums which represent the art of Japanese traditional poems, called Kokin Wakashu. In those museum, either you know or not, you can still enjoy Waka by watching its art. The restaurants and tea houses here offers great relaxing moment with beautiful nature. The entire site of the field is also the museum. Many arts are displayed in the field.

Admission for the museum of Waka and memorial museum of To clan: 300 yen for adult, 100 for kids. There is a group discount.

Kokin Denju no Sato
the ruins of To clan house garden
This beautiful Japanese garden is designated as the national scenic beauty. Originally, this garden built in the middle of 15th century. It was discovered in 1979. The researchers found not only the garden, but also many other relics of Daimyo in Sengoku period. The garden represent the art sense of Samurai in that period. To clan was the feudal lord of Gujo for over 230 years during Muromachi period.

To clan Memorial Museum
To Tsuneyori was one of the famous specialist of Kokin Wakashu. In this museum, there are many his research books, notes and other related items of Kokin Wakashu.

Museum of Waka Literature
You can enjoy Wakashu visually either you know about Waka or not.
