Ozuke Castle

Travel Information

Ozuke Castle (大嶽城) is a mountain castle located in Shiga. It is located on the top of Mt. Odani, 495m tall. It was a former castle of Azai clan. After, Azai constructed another castle on the other side of mountain, this castle reconstructed to fight against Nobunaga. On the top of this castle it has a great view of Nagahama era and Lake Biwa.

There is a parking and restroom.
It is very hard hiking.

0. at Maibara Station.
1. use JR Hokuriku Line to Kawage Station.
2. use bus or walk to Rekishishiryokan mae.

Ozuke Castle

Ozuke Castle is a former castle of Odani Castle. It was built in 1525 by Azai clan. The main bailey is located on the top of Mt. Odani that is about 495m tall, and the main bailey was surround by two layers of dirt hills and dry moat.

After, Azai Nagamasa moved the Odani castle to the westside of ridge of the mountain, this castle was became one of the fortress against Oda Nobunaga.
