Shinagawa-Juku was built in the beginning of Edo period (17th century). There are about 1,600 households and 7,000 people live in this area.
Shinagawa-juku (品川宿) is the first post town on Tokaido Road. Tokaido is the major road connecting Edo and Kyoto. Shinagawa-juku is located 8km from Nihonbashi. It was the entrance of Edo. Shinagawa-juku, Shin-juku, Itabashi-juku and Senju-juku were the major post town of Edo. Today, Shinagawa-juku becomes shopping district. The width of the road is the same as it used to be.
