Detailed Travel Guide

Shinzan Shrine
Shinzan Shrine is located in Oga City, Akita Prefecture. It was established by Takenouchinosukune. When he traveled to the North region by the order of Emperor Keiko, he climbed the mountain, called Oga-Shinzan and Oga-Honzan mountain. At the top of the mountain, he prayed for peace for Japan and established this shrine.

On the 2nd Weekend of February, this shrine holds Sedo Festival.

During the Heian Period, this shrine was combined with Buddhism and becomes the Shugendo practice place. All Namahage at Oga Peninsula will assemble at this shrine.
