Suyama Sengen Shrine

Suyama Sengen Shrine (須山浅間神社) is one of Sengen Shrine located southern Mt. Fuji. It is registered as UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was established in 110 by the order of Yamato Takeru no Mikoto. There was a southern climbing route of Mt. Fuji and this was the entrance before the eruption. Therefore, it is highly respected for the faith of Mt. Fuji. Many Samurai and Daimyo, such as Takeda Shingen are also highly respected this shrine.

Need a car. Locate on route 469 around Susono city Suyama.

Suyama Sengen Shrine

Enshrine: Konohanasakuyabine no Mikoto.

It was established in 110 when Yamatotakeru no Mikoto was conquering eastern land. Suyama is the southern climbing route of Mt. Fuji. This route appears in the record of 1486. In 1707, Mt. Fuji erupted and the route was destroyed. The route was restored in 1780.

Current Shrine was constructed in 1823.

It is designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site.
