Tochigi Hagurosan Shrine

Travel Information

Tochigi Hagurosan Shrine (栃木羽黒山神社) is located in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture. It was established in the middle of the 11th century by Fujiwara no Soen when he built Utsunomiya Castle. He invited the god of Dewasanzan from Yamagata. It was also used to be the place of Shugendo.

Access
Need a car.
Exit at Kamikawachi SA of Tohoku Expressway.
Drive 348 east and drive up to Mt. Haguro.

Hagurosan Shrine is located on the top of Mt. Haguro that is about 458m tall located in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture. It was used to be part of Shugendo Place.

The current building was constructed in 1830 with beautiful carving art.
