Karatsu Castle
Type: Hilltop
Built in: 1608 by Terasawa Hirotaka
Class: Reconstructed

The Original constructions of Karatsu Castle began in 1602 and took 7 years to complete. It was built by Terasawa Hirotaka, a former Samurai of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Some of the construction materials are removed from the abandoned castle of Nagoya. Winged by swooping beaches, the fortress became popularly known as Maizuru-jo "dancing Crane Castle" because of a fancied resemblance toa bird. Following the Terasawa clan, the Okubo clan and later the Matsudaira, Doi, Mizuno and Ogasawara clan became the lords of the castle. In 1877, this castle was abandoned and opened as a park.

There is no historical record that Tenshu Tower was ever exsisted.
