Tsuruga Castle(鶴ヶ城), aka Wakamatsu Castle (若松城), is the main feature of Aizu-Wakamatsu. It is one of the 100 best Japanese castle and also known as Sakura spots. It was the one of the main place of the battle of Aizu in Boshin War. Therefore, historically it is very important castle. Many fans of Meiji Restoration and Shinsengumi, visit this castle. Recently, Kawara, the roof, were replaced in original red color, therefore, outlooks are almost the same as used to be during the end of Edo period.
Nisshinkan
Nisshinkan (日新館) is Samura School of Aizu Domain built in late Edo period. It was established in 1803 by Matsudaira Katanobu. This Nisshinkan is reconstructed and displays the all the classroom and lectures which samurai of Aizu studied for their combat skills and literatures. Members of Byakko-tai also studied at Nisshinkan. It is one of major tourist spot in Aizu-Wakamatsu.
Aizu Bukeyashiki
Aizu Bukeyashiki (会津武家屋敷) is Samurai Houses located in Aizu-Wakamatsu. Bukeyashiki is one of the main tourist attraction in Aizu. It has the house of Karo, the principal Retainer, of Aizu domain. The complete house of Karo exist very few in Japan. It offers the life style of the high class Samurai during the Edo period. There is also remaining Jinya, the government Office of Tokugawa, and the traditional tea house. It offers also, experiencing traditional hand craft-works, museum, restaurant and gift shops.
The graves of Byakko-tai
The graves of Byakko-ta (白虎隊の墓)i is one of the most visited spots in Aizu-Wakamatsu. It is located in the middle of Mt. Iinuma. Byakko-tai is Samurai unit consisted of 16 to 17 years old in Boshin War in 1868. The story of Byakko-Tai is one of the biggest tragedy happened in that War. Today, there are about 2 million visitors in this place.
Amidaji Temple
... is located near Nanokacho Staiton. There is the grave of Saito Hajime and Aizu Samurai.
Higashiyama Onsen
There is a Hijikata Toshizo's Onsen.
