Anrakuji Temple

Anrakuji Temple (安楽寺) is one of the Zen temple located in Bessho, Nagano Prefecture. It was established in the middle of the 8th century by priest Gyoki. There is the only remaining Octagon 3 Stories Pagoda in Japan. That pagoda is registered as the national treasure. During Muromachi era, this temple was abandoned except the pagoda and re-established in 1580.

Time: 8:00 to 17:00 (Mar. to Oct.) to 16:00 (Nov. to Feb.)

Anrakuji Temple
Anraku-ji Temple is a Soto Buddhism temple located in Bessho Onsen, Ueda, Nagano Prefecture. It is the oldest Zen Temple in Nagano. Anraku-ji has the only extant octagonal pagoda in Japan.

The National Treasure of Japan. This Octagon Pagoda is the only extant octagonal pagoda in Japan.
This Pagoda was constructed in the late 13th century. It is 18.75m tall. It has many feasters of the architecture in Kamakura Period.
