Takenonobori (岳の幟) is one of the local festivals at Bessho Onsen. Bessho Onsen is located in Nagano Prefecture. Takenonobori is a traditional festival that has a history of over 500 years. This festival started for praying rain. Many villagers will carry many frags and traveling from the mountain to the central town.

Takenonobori
Takenonobori is one of the unique festivals for praying for rain. It has a history of over 500 years. It is registered as the National Intangible Folk Cultural Property.

Many frags travel to the top of the mountain (1250m high), then travel down to Bessho Onsen town. Then the children will perform the traditional dance for raining called "Sasara Odori", and another traditional Shishimai, Lion Dance, performed.

In the end, they travel to Bessho Shrine and then do the same performances again.
